I. Working environment
LED outdoor lighting because of the poor working environment, by rain sun, ultraviolet radiation in the sun, diurnal temperature difference, the air dust, chemical gas and other conditions, lamps and lanterns are affected by the nature of aging. The impact of these factors should be fully considered in the design.

Second, LED lighting materials and heat dissipation mode selection
Shell and radiator design as a whole, used to solve the LED wall lamp heating problem, this way better, the general selection of aluminum or aluminum alloy, copper or copper alloy, as well as other alloys with good thermal conductivity. Heat dissipation has air convection heat dissipation, strong wind cooling and heat pipe heat dissipation. (Jet cooling cooling is a similar heat pipe cooling, but the structure is more complex.) )
Choose what kind of heat dissipation mode, the cost of the lamp has a direct impact, should be considered comprehensively, and design products to choose the best solution.
The design of the lampshade is also critical, at present, the use of transparent plexiglass, PC materials, etc., the traditional lampshade is transparent glass products, what kind of material to choose the shade of the product with the design of the positioning of the relevant, in general, outdoor lamp shade is the best traditional glass products, it is the manufacture of long-life, high-grade lamps the best choice. Using transparent plastic, plexiglass and other materials made of lampshade, do indoor lamp shade better, used for outdoor life is limited, because of outdoor sunshine, ultraviolet, dust, chemical gas, diurnal temperature difference and other factors make the lamp shade aging life shortened, followed by pollution is not easy to clean knot, so that the shade transparency reduces the impact of light output.

Three, LED chip encapsulation
At present, the domestic production of LED lamps (mainly street lamps) are mostly used 1W led multiple strings, parallel assembly, this method of thermal resistance than advanced packaging technology products high, not easy to create high-quality lamps. Or the use of 30W, 50W or even larger modules assembled to achieve the required power, these led packaging materials useful epoxy encapsulation, useful silicone encapsulation. The difference is: the epoxy resin packaging temperature is poor, long time easy aging. Silicone packaging is good temperature resistance, use should be careful to choose.
The general view is: the use of multiple chips and radiator overall package is better, or the use of aluminum substrate chip packaging and through phase change materials or thermal silicone grease and radiator connection, make the product thermal resistance than with LED components assembled products of thermal resistance to one of the second heat resistance, more conducive to heat dissipation. Using LED module of the lamp, the module base plate is generally copper substrate, it and the external radiator connection to use good phase change materials, or good thermal grease, to ensure that the copper substrate heat can be transferred to the external radiator in time, such as bad treatment is easy to make the thermal accumulation of module chip temperature rise too high, affecting the normal work of LED chip. The author believes that: multi-chip packaging suitable for the manufacture of ordinary lighting, modular packaging suitable for space-limited occasions to create compact LED lamps (such as car main lighting headlights, etc.).

Four, the radiator design
Radiator is a key part of LED lighting, its shape, volume, heat dissipation surface area are designed to be consistent to the benefits of the radiator is too small, LED lamp working temperature is too high, affecting the luminous efficiency and life, the radiator is too large, the consumption of materials to increase product costs and weight, so that the product competitiveness decline. The design of the appropriate LED light radiator is critical. The design of the radiator has the following parts:

1. Clear LED lights need to heat the power.

2. Design some parameters of the radiator: the specific heat of the metal, the thermal conductivity of the metal, chip resistance, radiator resistance, ambient air resistance, etc.

3. Determine the type of heat dissipation, (natural convection heat, strong wind cooling, heat pipe cooling, and other heat dissipation methods.) From the cost comparison: natural convection heat cost is the lowest, high wind cooling medium, heat pipe cooling cost is higher, air jet cooling cost is the highest.

4. Radiator and lampshade seal to do waterproof, dustproof, shade and radiator to pad anti-aging rubber pad or silicone rubber pad, with stainless steel bolts fastening, so that sealing waterproof, dustproof.

5. Calculate the radiator volume, heat dissipation area. and determine the shape of the heatsink.

6. The radiator and LED light group to synthesize a complete lamp, and the power to work for more than eight hours, at room temperature 39℃--40℃ environment to check the temperature of the lamp, to see whether the heat dissipation requirements to verify the correct calculation, such as not meet the conditions of use, to recalculate and adjust the parameters.

7. Determine the maximum operating temperature (ambient temperature plus luminaire license temperature rise) permitted by LED wall washer.
